Amfori BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative) focuses on improving social responsibility in supply chains.

BSCI provides a framework for companies to implement responsible business practices, specifically concerning social standards in manufacturing facilities and the fashion supply chain, and it plays an important role in responsible sourcing and production practices.

The foundation of the BSCI audit program is a comprehensive Code of Conduct, which outlines the principles and standards that companies and their suppliers must follow. This code covers areas such as fair remuneration, working hours, occupational health and safety, no child labor, no forced labor, and freedom of association.

The 13 key focus areas in the BSCI Code of Conduct:

  • Social Management System
  • Workers Involvement and Protection
  • The Rights of Freedom of Association and Collective Bargaining
  • No Discrimination
  • Fair Remuneration
  • Decent Working Hours
  • Occupational Health and Safety
  • No Child Labour
  • Special Protection for Young Workers
  • No Precarious Employment
  • No Bonded Labour
  • Protection of the Environment
  • Ethical Business Behaviour

Assessment and Audits:

Companies utilizing the BSCI program, conduct assessments and audits within their supply chain. These assessments are typically carried out by qualified auditors to evaluate supplier facilities' compliance with the BSCI Code of Conduct. Each principle of is rated from A-E (or "None").

The standardised auditing process that applies to various companies participating in the BSCI initiative, aims to improve social compliance across broader supply chains and it makes it much easier to benchmark and compare brands, their responsibility and accountability efforts

If any non-compliance or issues are identified during the audits, action plans are developed to address these shortcomings, and companies are encouraged to report on progress and efforts to improve their social compliance.

Many items on SARTH.life are produced at factories that are BSCI accredited with a rating A, B or C (depending of the different principles that are rated with a C) or with a SMETA or SA8000 certification.

We read every (yes, EVERY!) audit report for every product to make sure we only sell products that are produced under good conditions for the workers. We’re transparent with the item details and it is always visible next to the product if there is a BSCI accreditation.
